Question:
Dear Lydia,
Thank you for sharing.
I have a question which I hope you can kindly share your views on the matter.
If a person is chanting regularly but is doing so without a Gohonzon. Does it affects the persons practice?
I am of the opinion that while the Gohonzon helps us to actualize our internal buddha nature but if a person does not have a Gohonzon but practices chanting regularly, believes and have deep faith, the person will have the same benefits as one who chants to a Gohonzon.
Is my understanding correct in this instance?
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thank you
Answer:
Tks for your question . Yes if a person chants and practice then this person will have benefits
However the gohonzon is like a mirror when we chant to the gohonzon we are actually looking into our own lives enabling us to see ourselves and own life more clearly
Like a lady applying lipsticks we can do so without using a mirror but with the use of a mirror the results will be far more accurate and satisfying
Furthermore the gohonzon embodies the highest state of life , buddhahood, by chanting to the gohonzon we are looking at our targeted destination , buddhahood, and we can reach this target
The gohonzon also represents a stimulus, when we see good food we likewise chAnting to the gohonzon will make us yearn to practice and attain buddhahood
I hope the above cAn answer your question
Pls feel free to contact should u have more queries . It I'd by asking questions that we learn n grow
Cheers
Lydia
