Suffering - May 2009

hi there

i understand that quite a lot of us may be suffering at the moment because of the financial crisis, the harsh climate and world instablity, thats why when i came across this excerpt in the indigo, the sgi australia monthly magazine, i can't wait to share.  it reads as follows:

when we suffer, a positive action we can make is to chant nam myo ho renge kyo before the Gohonzon, seeing the devilish functions for what they are, and revealing the light of buddhahood in our life, transforming the darkness into light and shine.

this is the battle, the ceaseless struggle to win over our negativity.  focusing only on OUR own suffering makes us suffer more and interestingly, negatively affects those around us.  Because darkness and light cannot manifest simultaneoulsy, our suffering changes as we reveal our enlighted nature, challenging our negativity and shine, as a result those around us experience hope in return.  in this way, we are creating value for ourselves and others.

i had just finished cleaning the sgi centre, 2000 sf in 1 1/2 hours, had had a good lunch, toast with baked beans, watercress soup and coffee, and then read the above article.  i feel really good, serene, fulfilled, satisfied, encouraged and inspired.

cheers
