my dear friends and family,
long time no see. Haven't written for a while cause i am travelling again. I would like to share the following story with you:
Glaucoma
A few years ago I was diagnosed with glaucoma and have been seeing an eye doctor who is also a friend. At that time she gave me eye drops which are supposed to control the situation.
Eyedrops
However this eyedrops made my eyes sore, dry and very red, and I looked like Dracula! When I complained to her about this, she said: "there are only three types of eye drops available, and the other two will give you worse side effects." So i thought i had no choice and continued to use this eye drops.
I had not been very happy with her but I didnt know who to turn to. Earlier in the year, I found I started to have black circles around my eyes. I thought the black circles were due to poor kidney functions.
There i was, with red eyes like DRACULA and black circles around eyes like a PANDA :(
Turn Poison into Medicine
In August, knowing that I will be on an extended trip, I decided to go to her again for a check up.
I was given a last minute appointment before I left Sydney. Strangely enough an hour before my appointment when i went into my car, it could not start !!!! With no car I could not make the appointment, I tried to call this doctor and was told that she was fully booked and could not see me before I left.
Because I badly needed a check-up, I started calling all my friends for a recommendation and luckily I was referred to a specialist who could see me the next day.
When I was at the specialist, after careful examination with lots of advance equipments , I told him what happened and the name of the doctor who had been seeing me the past few years, he said: she is my student, and there are lots of eye drops available for glaucoma. The one that you have been using is not very suitable with Asians, it creates a lot of side effects including black circles around your eyes.
i was so relieved to hear this. The specialist prescribed another eye drops for me and since then my eyes are not red and the black circles also disappear.
What i want to say is, sometimes when we are unable to get or do something which we think are good for us, please do not be discouraged. My faith in the gohonzon and the buddhist practice tells me that if I do not get what I want, maybe this thing is not good for me and something else better will come along.
the interesting thing was the fact i could not start my car to see the first doctor was an indication that she is not good for me, and i was forced to change doctors, (i did not know it then but i did not sulk nor complain) which turned out to be exactly what i needed.
Glad to share.
Lydia
