SGI Caledon Training Sept 2010

hi there

i have just completed a four day three nights training course at our sgi caledon cultural centre.  as soon as i arrived, my feelings were so mixed.

looking back, i remember the first time i came here for a training course was in 1997, at that time i was at a very very low point of my life, i was unhappy and lost, but now, my life has taken a 180 degrees turn, i am now very happy, fulfilled and live everyday with gratitude, and i owe it all to my buddhist practice, to all the teaching i have learned from SGI, and to our great mentor, President Ikeda.

the centre is very nicely planned and built, with large lecture halls, dining hall, and lots of meeting rooms and sitting areas for small group discussion.  it has more than 100 acres of land with parks and lakes, in the park, i could see three trees planted in the name of our three presidents.

i must say that i am most impressed with all the SGI canadian members, both english and chinese speaking.  not only can they grasp the theories of nichiren buddhism, but they can also express a very profound theory in a very simple way, using daily life examples as analogies to help us understand, and they also taught us how to use our buddhist theory to help us in our daily lives, which is one of the most important aspect of our practice.

the men's division members are very helpful, considerate and caring, including calling us after we went back home to make sure we arrived safely.  this is very touching.

at the end of the conference, there was an entertainment night when all members would perform, either singing, dancing.  i was especially THRILLED to see a play performed by the men's division wherein one of the members played the part of our second President Toda, and another member played the part of Presidnet Ikeda, and they looked soooo much like these two presidents that i laughed my head off.  pls see photos in the album.

so much for now, can't wait to share this will you all.

cheers

lydia
