cups jan. 2014

my dear friends and family

sending u a photo showing you two cups.  the one on the right with flowers and gold rim is a royal doulton  bought from Peters of Kensinton (similar to lane crawford in hong kong or Holt Renfrew in canada) some 14 yrs ago when i first moved to sydney.

lately i found that the enamel coating on these cups are deteriorating and tea stains are hard to remove, so i wanted to buy new ones.

The one on the left, a beige stone ware was what i actually bought a couple of days ago, costing only $2.

looking at these two cups, can u see the changes that had taken place in me in the past 14 years?  Coming from a materially deprived family when young, i found myself hooked onto flashy things, to cover my inner inferiority.

with my continual buddhist practice, i now feel whole and fulfilled, and no longer rely on material things to prove my worth.  i am perfectly happy with basic things.

in our buddhist practice, this is called human revolution, which means changing any aspects in our lives that cause misery and sufferings, and is vital to our achieving happiness.

glad to share\
