up and about (會行會走)

Hi there

So glad to tell you that, finally, i am up and about.  yesterday, for the first time in two weeks, i was able to get up and even to drive around to find fittings for my water filter and today i went into andrews dental clinic.

As i was driving, i felt sooooo good!  guess you just dont know how lucky you are UNTIL you have lost that blessing.  to be able to walk and move around is such a 'huge blessing' indeed.

From this 2nd 'back injury' incident i learned that:

I really have to slow down and take good good care of myself.  exactly one year ago, i had the same incident and i took three days to recover, however, i did not get the message and continued to behave the way i did, doing ten things at one time, (making life hard for myself and those around me) so..., the second lesson came this time.

Life always presents lessons to us in the form of accidents, problems, pains etc to help us learn, and if we dont, these lessons will keep coming back to us, each time more severe than the other, until we learn. (some people regard this as karma, suffering, or struggles). now i will make SPECIAL effort to change and TRY to do things S L O W L Y, and one thing at a time.

I hope all my friends and family will learn from my mistake and start changing for the better and better so we will live happier, easier and healthier. (if you dont know what aspects you will have to change, pls chant “nam myo ho renge kyo” to the gohonzon and the answers will come.)

Cheers

how my mind works

hi
its now 3 pm, monday, and i am almost 99% ok.  i am going to tell you my interesting thinking process which may sound very familiar to you too.
ok, when i was 70% recovered 6 days from my back injury, i thought: (1) do i want to get well?  i am enjoying my time lying down and watching TV , if i am all well, i have to be up and doing things again?  i was not very ready for that yet.  as soon as i had that thought in mind, my recovery stopped and there was no progress.
on the 8th day, i started to think: (2) its now 8 days (friday) i am  still lying down watching TV, so its quite廢, also my energy level is getting very low because of lying down all the time!  immediately i chanted to the gohonzon to get well as soon as possible.  then i took action to consult a professional in hong kong who, after hearing my situation, suggested i change doctors.  just at that time andrew came home, heard my conversation  and arranged for me to see another doctor on sat.
i had two treatments by this doctor and was miles better, this morning when i woke up, i was 98%, very good, right?  so i had breakfast and then started to chant for 30 min.  while i was chanting, i started to think: now, (3)  what should i do?  i am much better, but not well enough to do a lot of things, but i have no excuse to lie down and watch TV the whole day? so what should i do with myself?  to be honest, deep down i wanted to continue to lie down and watch TV
interestingly enough, right after chanting, my back started to hurt again and i was back to about 80%.  i knew i had the wrong thinking and i immediately went to use my massage bed and now i am ok now, back to 98%.
what i want to share with you is: how powerful our mind is, and how much influence our mind has on our BODY and everything that happens afterwards (please see how my three different thoughts brought about the different results to my body) , in buddhist terms, this is called 一 念三千! meaning, one single thought can bring about three thousand different results! (the western saying is: its all in your mind).

(Three thousand worlds in one thought'
good or bad? its all up to you, according to what you think. so be careful of what you think!

in a separate email, i will share with you my understanding of
WHY i had this recurrence of back pain injury. exactly ONE year ago, jan. 2010, i had this same thing happen to me and i only needed three treatments.

cheers

cannot move (寸步難行)

hi there

just want to let you know what happened.  it is until now that i can sit for a little longer to send this email.

two days after i returned to sydney, i hurt my back, it was sooooo bad that i could not stand, sit, walk nor move.  kevin immediately came home from work and virtually had to carry me to a chinese accupuncture doctor who gave me all necessary treatments and medicine, and said i had to lie down all the time to recover.  today is the 7th day.

it was a real blessing that kevin did not have to work on sat and he spent the whole of friday afternoon and sat to cater to my every needs, bringing me water, food, bread and straw (because i cannot sit up and drink).  andrew bought me dinner and made me breakfast so i had all the care i needed.

at times when the pain was really bad, i tried to remember a song sung in the 'song of music':

'snow flakes that stay on my nose and eye lashes, silver white winters that melt into springs, these are a few of my favorite things....; when the dogs bite, when the bees sting, when i am feeling said, i simply remember my favorite things, and then i dont feel, so bad....' yeah i started to think of things that will amuse myself and then i remember what was said about my grandfather, who was feared by us all, it was about his behaviour:

'walk lightly, sit cautiously, talk softly, and scold loudly'.

so now i am exactly like my grandfather and whenever i recall this, i started to laugh.

anyway, although my movements are restricted, i did not have a bad time at all, i spent all my time sleeping, watching TV and eating, and REST, which is what i need most.

looking back, since last aug, i went to vancouver to settle ryan, then toronto to settle my sister, back to sydney, the tour shanghai etc, back to sydney, back to hong kong, backi to sydney, back to hongkong, hokkaido, hongkong and sydney.

i spent every minute of the day doing things for myself and others and neglected my own body, therefore ......

i also thought how fortunate i am to have this happen in sydney when kevin and andrew can drive me to the doctor and take care of me, if this happened in hong kong, or canada, or ...., then it would be horrible.

i was told long time ago that:  if you chant nam myo ho renge kyo and trust the gohonzon, your will still have problems, however they will come at a time when you are most capable of handling them.

i am not going to translate this into chinese because i need to lie down now.  i hope my chinese friends will be able to read the message behind.  or, maybe i will translate this when i am better.

cheers

a happy life (一份美好的生活)

hi there
arrived sydney this morning,  when i was in the taxi, i was thinking: what shall i should have for breakfast, i am too tired to cook and too thirsty to have toast.  then when i was back home, i was delighted to find a pot of nicely cooked  on the stove.  i knew it was andrew who cooked this breakfast for me.  it is de li cious!  he put in 燒鴨, mushrooms, and tientsin cabbage, 津白, a funny combination but really tastes good.
then, i started unpacking and took a nap.  when i woke up, i had to sweep all the leaves on the drive way , quite hectic but a good exercise.
later, i sat at the front door, looking at the opposite houses, trees, clouds and the sky.  the air was so clean and fresh, the sun was setting and the scenery is very beautiful.  dog dog was with me, i felt really good, relaxed, peaceful and serene.  this, really is a happy life, and i thank andrew for giving me 這一份一份美好的生活
and i thank the 'gohonzon' for all these blessings.
am sharing some photos with u.
cheers

below is the chinese translation (hehe, now i know how to do the translation using google, and with my pen writer, i am able to write chinese now, hehehe , very happy!)

'tangled' english 3D (魔髮奇緣3D)

my dear friends and family,

just got back from seeing this movie 'tangled'.  since yesterday i have been thinking whether i should go because there are a few things i need to handle, and maybe i could see this when i am back in sydney, because there is only one place in hongkong which shows it in english.

this morning, i asked myself: what actually do u want to do? and my heart tells me that i want to see this movie, therefore i decided to put everything aside and saw the 3.34 movie, alone.

its a GREAT movie, main characters are so  lively and pretty, and the sceneries so nice and beautiful.  i bought myself a pack of popcorn and was hugely enjoying myself.  now i am back home,  feeling very happy, content and satisfied.

i bought myself 1/2 catty of very fresh choy sum 菜心 for HK$5, and some BBQ pork, 叉燒, and will have a very simple meal with steamed rice.

sometimes we really have to ask ourselves 'what do we want' and then listen to our hearts,  very often we  tend to 'force' ourselves to do things and end up frustrated and unhappy, because we are not fulfilling the needs of our inner soul,

chanting 'nam myo ho renge kyo' can definitely help us attain happiness, and we can find happiness in very simple things.

cheers

breakfast

my dear friends and family

andrew and i return to hongkong for chinese new year (he has now returned to sydney to work and i am still in hongkong ).  one day, when i woke up, i found that andrew had already gone downstairs to buy 豬 腸粉 (steamed rice sheet roll) with sweet and peanut sauce, and 撻 for desert, and made me a cup of tea, then set them up nicely for my breakfast.

after breakfast, he said, 'now u have u something to write!' which means, he wants me to tell my friends about how nice he has been, hahahahaha

a candaian  friend of mine said that andrew is a 'keeper' (meaning someone you have to keep), do u agree? heheheheh
